Overview

The 2018 Dalwhinnie Moonambel Cabernet Sauvignon is a mature-release Pyrenees Cabernet from one of Victoria's most iconic high-altitude estates. Sourced from small vineyard blocks on the Dalwhinnie estate, it reflects the producer's reputation for Cabernet Sauvignon that ages with structure, grace and savoury depth.

Vintage & Winemaking

The fruit was picked from small vineyard blocks on the Dalwhinnie estate and fermented for 14 days in open-top fermenters. Once approaching dryness, the wine was pressed directly to French oak barriques for 20 months' maturation. Careful barrel selection was then carried out to create the final blend.

Dalwhinnie's Moonambel vineyard sits at 595 metres above sea level in the Pyrenees, with ancient soils, cool steady nights and a remote amphitheatre-like site that helps produce structured, long-lived Cabernet Sauvignon.

Structured Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon with cassis, dark fruit, savoury spice, fine oak influence and firm yet polished tannins. Mature enough to show complexity, yet built for continued cellaring.

Pairs well with beef and venison, especially grilled steak, roast beef, lamb cutlets and slow-braised red meat dishes.

Cellaring Potential

Drink from 2022 to 2038.
