Overview
An exceptional 12-bottle vertical collection of Rockford Basket Press Shiraz, featuring one 750ml bottle from every vintage between 2008 and 2019. This uninterrupted sequence presents a rare opportunity to explore more than a decade of one of Australia’s most recognised and collectible Shiraz labels.
Basket Press Shiraz represents Rockford’s traditional approach to Barossa winemaking, bringing together selected parcels from established vineyards across the region. Each vintage reveals its own balance of ripe fruit, spice, savoury complexity and structured tannins, with extended bottle maturation adding further depth to the earlier releases.

Vineyard and Winemaking
Basket Press Shiraz is produced from parcels of Barossa fruit, including material from old, dry-grown vineyards cultivated by long-established grape-growing families. Traditional open fermentation and maturation in American and French oak contribute structure and savoury complexity without obscuring the character of the fruit or the individual vintage.

Interessantes Bouquet, duftet nach sonnengetrockneten Tomaten, Sugo und frisch gemahlenem Pfeffer, dann folgt die intensive, dunkle Frucht. Sehr guter Trinkfluss mit viel Frische am Gaumen, dann reifem Tannin und einer saftigen Säure, diskrete Rauchnoten im Finale.

Typischer Neue-Welt-Shiraz mit generösem Pflaumenkompott, reife Johannisbeere, dazu Minze, Rosmarin, Eukalyptus und schwarzer Pfeffer mit Rauch und Würze. Am Gaumen viel Süsse und viel Alkohol, dazu dichte, feinporige Tannine. Barocke Wucht!

A very charming trace of oxidative patina… Marsala, fig compote, but also fresh motifs: blueberry, liquorice. Oily and mild on the palate, quite rounded with very fine, flatteringly matured tannin.

Deep youthful purple-red. Fresh young berry, mint, plum aromas, fresh and fruit driven. Full bodied, bright and concentrated. Superb, still a bit young. Excellent wine with great potential.

This is a beautifully ripe, composed and flavorful edition of Basket Press that has all the classic hallmarks of blackberries, earth, leather, cedar and tar. The palate has very supple, enveloping tannins.

Blackberry, black olive, tar, forest-floor and licorice aromas, a note of roasting meats emerging with age. Very intense and well concentrated palate flavour, deep and long with masses of supple, velvety tannins.

Full-bodied and gently chocolaty, with lovely soft texture and a savoury kind of richness, the finish long, with an appropriate touch of firmness at the end. Seamless texture and flavour.

Deep, bold red colour laced with purple; plum pudding, fruitcake and subtle herb aromas, a suggestion of roasting meats… There is a restrained fruit sweetness at its core, and appealing balance in the flavour, bouquet and mouth-feel.
