The thunderous sound of direct-fired stills, the glint of sunlight on polished copper, and the sight of Speyside’s largest pot stills create a stunning spectacle. This is Glenfarclas distillery, home to some of the Highlands’ most exceptional malt whiskies. Using six traditional direct-fired pot stills—three 'wash' stills for the first distillation and three spirit stills for the second—Glenfarclas distills twice, carefully capturing only the finest alcohol. It’s often said that what they choose not to use is what makes Glenfarclas so special. With generations of expertise, the still man makes the crucial ‘middle cut’ at just the right moment to collect the perfect new spirit worthy of the Glenfarclas name.

Once this prized new spirit is collected, with its delicate aroma of pears and cherry blossoms, it is aged in top-quality Spanish sherry casks. These casks, from Seville, previously held Oloroso and Fino sherry, and John Grant, the current Chairman, personally selects each one, following in the footsteps of his ancestors. This meticulous process ensures every batch of Glenfarclas whisky maintains the exceptional quality for which it is known.

Tasting notes: A polished copper hue. Aromas of orange cake, juicy malt, fruit mince pie, and gobstopper, with aeration revealing notes of oatmeal biscuit. The palate is almost chewy, with a beautiful balance of honeyed malt and light Christmas pudding, followed by buttered raisin bread, caramel fudge, and a fresh grassy note.
