Overview

The 2026 Rieslingfreak No.5 Clare Valley Off Dry Riesling is a beautifully balanced expression from the Hughes family vineyard at White Hutt. Made in an off-dry style, No.5 combines natural sweetness, electric acidity and generous Clare Valley fruit in a precise, refreshing and food-friendly Riesling.

Vintage & Winemaking

The 2026 vintage began four weeks later than 2025, following delayed flowering, slow ripening and careful vineyard management. Although almost 90mm of rain fell in 48 hours shortly after harvest began, quick work from growers and the winery preserved quality, producing Rieslings of purity, elegance and poise.

No.5 is harvested from a specific block of the family vineyard at White Hutt, just north of Clare. The site has grey clay over limestone, with vines planted east-west. This block retains high natural acidity and produces fruit ideally suited to Rieslingfreak's off-dry style.

Lusciously flavoured with apple crisp, apricot delight and fresh nectarine, balanced by a sherbet-like line of acidity.

Finish

Crisp, clean and refreshing, with natural sweetness adding mid-palate richness while bright acidity gives length and focus.

Pairs well with white fish, chicken satay, jamon de pato, spaghetti with sea urchin and Pecorino.
