Overview
The 2026 Rieslingfreak No.2 Polish Hill River Riesling is a precise, mineral-driven dry Riesling from one of the Clare Valley's most distinctive sub-regions. Sourced from the Jaeschke family's Polish Hill River vineyard, No.2 is built around perfume, texture, fine acidity and the taut mineral line that defines the site.
Vintage & Winemaking
The 2026 vintage began four weeks later than 2025, following delayed flowering, slow ripening and careful vineyard management. Although almost 90mm of rain fell in 48 hours shortly after harvest began, quick work from growers and the winery preserved quality, producing Rieslings of purity, elegance and poise.
No.2 is sourced from the Polish Hill River vineyard, 5km south-east of Clare. Owned by Rob and Lyn Jaeschke, the vineyard was purchased from Penfolds in 2010 and is planted on grey-brown loam over sandy limestone and shale rock. The Riesling vines are almost 20 years old, planted on 50-year-old rootstock.
