Overview

Domaine Simha SANSKRIT Pinot Gris is a tiny-production, skin-fermented Pinot Gris from the Derwent Valley in Tasmania. Only 50 dozen, or approximately 600 bottles, were produced, making this a highly limited release from one of Tasmania's most distinctive avant-garde producers.

This is a lightly cloudy, naturally made Pinot Gris with exotic fragrance, shapely texture and a strikingly expressive profile.

Tasting Notes

Perfumed and dreamlike, showing heady lychee, damask rose, pink pear skins and stone fruit. Smoky spice, bitter orange, gingerbread and musky dusk add depth and complexity, while skin contact gives the wine texture, grip and presence.

Vineyard & Terroir

Cool-climate single vineyard fruit from the Derwent Valley, Tasmania, at 42.6°S. The site contributes aromatic lift, freshness and fine natural balance.

Method Naturel

Handpicked on a fruit day after the harvest moon. The fruit undergoes whole-bunch open wild fermentation with 30 days on skins, then is basket pressed and matured for six months sur lie in demi-john. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with natural balance.

Domaine Simha was founded in Tasmania by Nav Singh and Louise Radman. The domaine works in micro batches, crafting wines by hand with wild fermentation, lunar-cycle harvest decisions and minimal-intervention techniques.
