Overview

Pio Cesare L'Altro Chardonnay is a Langhe white made from Chardonnay with Sauvignon Blanc, created as the younger and more immediate counterpart to the estate's more serious Piodilei. First produced from the 1990 harvest, L'Altro expresses the Pio family's idea of a white wine shaped by the cool, high-elevation terroir of the Langhe.

The 2025 vintage is savoury, mineral and finely aromatic, with spicy fruit, freshness and a delicate touch of vanilla. It is approachable in youth while retaining the structure and minerality to develop with time.

Vineyards

Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated across different exposures in the Langhe region, where high elevation and cool climate help preserve freshness, aromatic detail and mineral precision.

Winemaking

Alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks. The wine then rests partly in French barriques, one third of which are new oak, and partly in stainless steel tanks for a few months before bottling.

Tasting Profile

Savoury, spicy and fruity aromas are supported by mineral freshness and a subtle vanilla note from partial oak maturation. The wine is expressive, balanced and versatile, with good longevity for the style.
