Overview

Wildberry Springs is a single-vineyard Chardonnay from a 30-year-old site in Willyabrup, Margaret River. Made entirely from Gin Gin clone Chardonnay, the 2025 combines concentrated vineyard fruit with an equal split between amphora and oak maturation, delivering purity, elegance, texture and mineral complexity.

Vineyard

The vineyard lies in the heart of Willyabrup on rich gravelly loam soils. Planted by John Durack approximately 30 years ago, it is entirely Gin Gin clone Chardonnay, producing small, concentrated bunches with intense flavour.

Winemaking

The fruit was hand-picked early in the morning, chilled overnight and whole bunch pressed. Half was fermented and matured in amphorae of different shapes, sizes and porosities, while the remaining 50% was fermented and aged in oak barrels. Partial natural malolactic fermentation occurred during maturation, contributing softness, length and depth.

Producer Tasting Notes

L.A.S. Vino: “Purity and elegance. Pure flavours of Willyabrup chardonnay, peach lemon, lime, green apple, a touch of cream and a hint of flint and struck match.”

Critic Reviews

97 Points — Ray Jordan, W.A. Wine Review: “This 30-year-old vineyard, smack bang in the middle of Willyabrup, has always produced some of my favourite Margaret River chardonnays. The winemaking all adds up to a wine with tremendous energy, a degree of tension, and compelling vibrancy. The textural feel is remarkable, with a subtle, lightly roasted cashew character emerging. Exceptional wine.”
