Overview

A particularly distinctive Petit Chablis from one of the smallest holdings at Domaine Christian Moreau Père & Fils. The vineyards sit high on the hill of the Chablis Grands Crus, including parcels only metres from Valmur and above Vaudésir, giving this Chardonnay unusual depth, precision and mineral character for the appellation.

Vineyard

The domaine farms approximately 0.9 hectares of Petit Chablis, with vines planted in 2000 and 2014. The parcels are positioned at the crest of the Grand Cru hill, including vines close to Valmur and a small planting above Vaudésir.

The vineyards are certified organic. Their elevated position contributes freshness and detail, while the proximity to some of Chablis’ most celebrated Grand Cru sites makes this an especially distinctive expression of Petit Chablis.

Vintage

After the difficult 2024 season, 2025 brought healthier growing conditions without significant frost, hail or major disease pressure. A dry August was interrupted by substantial rainfall late in the month, making harvest timing critical. Fabien Moreau chose to wait for full maturity, with the domaine beginning harvest in early September and hand sorting the fruit carefully.

Winemaking

Fruit is hand harvested and whole-bunch pressed, with fermentation using natural yeasts. Domaine Christian Moreau Père & Fils emphasises precise, low-intervention winemaking designed to preserve the freshness and mineral expression of its Chablis vineyards.

Domaine Christian Moreau Père & Fils is a historic Chablis estate led by proprietor and winemaker Fabien Moreau. The family farms approximately 12 hectares across Petit Chablis, Chablis, Premier Cru and Grand Cru appellations, including important holdings in Les Clos, Valmur, Vaudésir and Blanchot.

The estate has been certified organic since the 2013 vintage. All fruit is harvested by hand, with natural yeast fermentation and careful élevage used to preserve vineyard character, precision and freshness.
