Overview
A vibrant Yarra Valley Syrah built around juicy berry fruit, aromatic lift and savoury spice. Whole berry fermentation, partial whole bunch inclusion and restrained French oak preserve freshness and fruit purity while adding fine tannin structure and complexity.
Vineyard
Drawn from selected blocks across the vineyard and blended from Old Vine, 1654, Best's Old Vine and Tahbilk clones. Together they contribute vibrant fruit, spice, structure and aromatic lift.
Winemaking
Whole berry fermentation with a portion of whole bunches contributes a succulent fruit profile, aromatic lift and fine tannin structure. The wine was hand plunged throughout fermentation for gentle extraction of colour, flavour and texture, then matured for 15 months in French oak, including 10% new oak.
Producer Tasting Notes
Berries and satsuma plum take centre stage, delivering a glossy, juicy palate with vibrant fruit at its core. Generosity is balanced by savoury notes of leather, brown spice and subtle whole bunch complexity. Fine tannins weave gently through the wine, while a whisper of stalk influence adds freshness, structure and intrigue. Persistent and layered, the finish carries both fruit purity and savoury detail.
Cellaring
A fresh and immediate expression designed to be enjoyed while its fruit is vibrant and bright, with careful cellaring for up to five years expected to reveal additional complexity.
