Overview
A vibrant, medium-bodied Yarra Valley Cabernet blend combining five Bordeaux varieties. Perfumed floral and dark-berry fruit is matched by leafy freshness, fine structural tannins and subtle oak influence, giving the wine an approachable yet classically claret-like profile.
Vineyard
The wine is drawn from selected blocks across the vineyard, incorporating fruit from nine vineyard blocks and five grape varieties. Some vines date back to 1990, contributing additional complexity and character to the blend.
Winemaking
The fruit was hand picked, sorted and destemmed into a series of small fermenters. Cabernet Sauvignon berries were lightly crushed to aid tannin extraction, while Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot underwent whole berry fermentation to enhance fruit purity and plushness. Cabernet Franc was fermented and matured in clay amphora, adding further complexity to the blend. Hand plunging throughout fermentation allowed gentle extraction of colour, flavour and texture.
Producer Tasting Notes
Perfumed violets, freshly picked herbs and boysenberry fruit unfold across a medium-bodied palate with an accessible and generous fruit profile. Brimming with freshness, the wine combines leafy lift, aniseed spice and berry-bright acidity. Fine structural tannins and a hint of oak influence bring balance and length to this vibrant interpretation of a classic claret style.
Cellaring
Full of youthful exuberance and ready for immediate enjoyment. The producer suggests a mellow and graceful evolution for up to five years under suitable cellaring conditions.
