Overview
Turkey Flat Vineyards Shiraz is a classic Barossa Valley expression that balances concentration and power with restraint and finesse. The 2024 brings together selected parcels from the Bethany and Stonewell vineyards, delivering intense dark fruit, savoury complexity, mineral structure and integrated French oak.
Vintage
The 2024 vintage began around twenty days earlier than 2023. Lower yields, warm late-season conditions and an exceptionally dry February accelerated ripening, resulting in a compressed five-week harvest. Despite the demanding conditions, the smaller crop produced highly concentrated fruit with ripe tannins and generous flavour.
Winemaking
Individual parcels from the Bethany and Stonewell vineyards were vinified separately in open-top fermenters before maturation in French oak. The wine spent 18 months in French oak, with 25% new oak, before the final blend was assembled.
Producer Tasting Notes
Aroma
Concentrated blackberry, mulberry and dark chocolate with touches of olive tapenade, chocolate-orange and integrated oak.
Palate
Tightly structured with a mineral feel and graphite edge, leading into a long, juicy and flavourful finish. Restrained and finely composed, yet carrying the underlying power associated with Barossa Shiraz.
