Overview

Joshua is Teusner’s original wine and a fresh, unoaked expression of the classic Barossa blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz. The 2024 vintage combines old-vine Grenache and Mataro with a smaller component of Shiraz, delivering juicy red and dark fruit, savoury spice and fine tannins with the emphasis firmly on purity and drinkability.

Vintage

The 2024 growing season combined good spring soil moisture with a warm, dry ripening period and naturally low yields. Grenache benefited from the long, warm finish to the season, while Mataro and Shiraz gained additional hang time, producing a vintage with concentration, freshness and aromatic detail.

Vineyard

The blend is 61% Grenache, 29% Mataro and 10% Shiraz. Grenache and Mataro are sourced from old vines in Ebenezer, Williamstown, Seppeltsfield and Tanunda, while the Shiraz component comes from approximately 20-year-old vines.

Winemaking

Joshua is deliberately kept away from oak and released young, allowing the fruit, spice and savoury character of the traditional Barossa varieties to remain at the forefront.

Producer

Teusner Wines was founded in the Barossa Valley in 2001 after Kym Teusner and Mick Page overheard local growers discussing the removal of a parcel of old Grenache vines. They stepped in to help preserve the vineyard, and that fruit became the foundation of the Teusner story.

Today, Teusner works closely with long-established Barossa growers, sourcing fruit from distinctive sites across the region. Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz remain central to the range, with an emphasis on old vines, regional character and wines that balance generous fruit with freshness and savoury detail.
