2024 Sinapius Close Planted Chardonnay 750ml

About This Wine

The 2024 Sinapius Close Planted Chardonnay is a Tasmanian Chardonnay from Sinapius Vineyard.

It is grown exclusively from dry-grown, high-density planted blocks, with 7,700-9,615 vines per hectare and nine different Chardonnay clones. The fruit was harvested at less than 1kg per vine.

Producer Notes

The grapes were handpicked at 11.5-12 degrees Baume, then pressed to tank without enzymes. After light settling overnight, the wine was transferred to barrel retaining most of the solids.

Wild yeast fermentation and maturation took place in 600, 500 litre and 225 litre French oak barrels, 15% new, for 12 months. The wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation, then was blended after 12 months on full lees and settled in tank for a further six months for integration and natural clarification, avoiding the need for fining or filtration.
