Overview
An estate-grown Premier Cru Chardonnay from Sous le Dos d'Ăne in Meursault, immediately adjoining Meursault Perrières Dessus in the Blagny sector. The 2024 vintage combines the vineyardâs stony, marl-influenced character with the freshness and radiance that distinguish this challenging but ultimately rewarding Burgundy vintage.
Vintage
2024 was marked by record rainfall and persistent humidity across Burgundy, with severe mildew pressure significantly reducing yields. Well-drained terroirs were better able to withstand the difficult conditions. Despite the demanding growing season, the finished wines showed impressive freshness, brightness and energy.
Vineyard
Sous le Dos d'Ăne is an estate-owned vineyard immediately neighbouring Meursault Perrières Dessus in the Blagny territory. The sloping site lies at 300â350 metres altitude on calcareous clay soils with marl and abundant stones, contributing a distinctive mineral and flinty character. The vines average 26 years of age.
The vineyard is certified HVE Level 3 (High Environmental Value Level 3), and the fruit is harvested entirely by hand.
Winemaking
Made from 100% Chardonnay and vinified as whole grapes. After 24 hours of static settling, alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in oak barrels. The wine is matured for 18 months, including six months in stainless steel tank. Oak maturation uses 100% barrels, with 25% new oak in 228, 350 and 450 litre formats.
Producer Tasting Notes
Elegant nose where white flowers and citruses overcome. Palate with a fresh attack of lemon zest bringing a bright and mouthwatering effect.
