Overview

Named for the Holdsworth family, who planted the L’Attitude Vineyard, The Holdsworth is a barrel-selected Central Otago Pinot Noir chosen by winemaker Matt Connell for its floral and savoury character, power and presence. The 2024 vintage combines dark cherry, red berries and florals with earthy spice, fine tannins and mineral freshness. An exceptional release, it received 97 Points and Platinum at the Decanter World Wine Awards and 98 Points and Double Gold at the New Zealand International Wine Show.

Vineyard

The fruit comes from the L’Attitude Vineyard in Central Otago, planted by the Holdsworth family and certified through the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) programme. Fruit for The Holdsworth was selectively hand-picked before individual wines were assessed for the final barrel selection.

Winemaking

The hand-picked fruit was destemmed and fermented in oak vessels. Winemaker Matt Connell selected individual wines showing the floral and savoury qualities, power and presence sought for The Holdsworth. The final blend was matured for 10 months in French oak, including 33% new oak.

Producer Tasting Notes

Aroma: Delicate florals, mocha and cola with darker fruit complexity.

Palate: A harmonious blend of soft yet diverse flavours, with dark cherry fruit, earth and spice playing a part. Powdery tannins lead to a long, gentle finish.
