Overview
A beautifully refined Premier Cru from Domaine Moreau-Naudet, Montmains is celebrated for its vibrant minerality, remarkable freshness and elegant structure. Sourced from approximately 70-year-old vines rooted in distinctive blue clay and limestone soils, the 2024 vintage combines generous orchard fruit with incisive acidity, chalky precision and a long, saline finish. Vinified entirely in stainless steel to preserve its purity and tension, this outstanding Chablis has received 94 points from Tim Atkin and 93 points from Decanter.
Vineyard
Montmains lies on the left bank of the Serein River, opposite Vaillons across the Valvan Valley. Its distinctive soils combine deep blue clay, locally known as bleu d'argile, with abundant limestone rocks, producing wines renowned for their mineral intensity, textural depth and lively acidity.
The domaine cultivates approximately 0.65 hectares of old vines averaging 70 years of age, spread across the lieux-dits of Les Monts Mains, Les Bouts des Butteaux and Vaux Miolot. The latter parcel features particularly deep, clay-rich soils that contribute additional richness and texture to the finished wine.
Viticulture & Winemaking
The estate follows organic viticultural practices, with careful soil cultivation, controlled yields and natural fermentation to preserve the distinctive expression of each vineyard.
Unlike most of the domaine's other Premier Cru wines, the 2024 Montmains was vinified and matured entirely in stainless steel tanks, without oak. This approach highlights the wine's vibrant acidity, pure Chardonnay fruit and distinctive chalky minerality. The result is a beautifully balanced, layered and energetic Chablis with impressive length and freshness.

Producer
Domaine Moreau-Naudet is one of Chablis' most respected family estates, celebrated for its richly textured, mineral-driven Chardonnay and commitment to traditional viticulture and winemaking.
Stéphane Moreau transformed the domaine after taking over from his father in 1993, championing meticulous vineyard management, low yields, natural fermentations and extended maturation on lees. Following his passing in 2016, his wife Virginie Moreau continued the estate's philosophy, maintaining its reputation for exceptional quality and authentic terroir expression.
Today, the domaine farms approximately 26 hectares across Chablis, from Petit Chablis to Grand Cru, producing wines prized for their concentration, purity and distinctive mineral character.
