Overview
One of Domaine Moreau-Naudet's most distinguished Premier Cru wines, Forêts is celebrated for its remarkable mineral intensity, concentration and finesse. Sourced from old vines in a prized southeast-facing sector of Montmains, the 2024 vintage combines ripe orchard fruit, vibrant acidity and a beautifully textured palate with a long, saline finish. A classic, cellar-worthy Chablis from one of the region's most respected producers.
Vineyard
Forêts is a historic climat within Chablis Premier Cru Montmains, situated high on a southeast-facing slope. Stéphane Moreau regarded it as one of the greatest terroirs in Chablis, a reputation shared by prestigious neighbouring growers including Dauvissat and Raveneau.
The domaine cultivates two parcels totalling just under two hectares. The first borders Vincent Dauvissat's vineyard and contains approximately 60-year-old vines, while the second lies beside Raveneau's parcel and features vines around 25 years old. These mature vineyards contribute depth, concentration and the distinctive mineral character of this exceptional Premier Cru.
Viticulture & Winemaking
The estate follows organic viticultural practices, with careful vineyard cultivation, controlled yields and natural fermentations to preserve the expression of its terroir.
The 2024 Forêts was fermented and matured in a combination of stainless steel tanks and seasoned oak barrels of various sizes, with approximately 30% aged in used oak. Maturation extends to around two years, allowing the wine to develop additional texture and complexity while maintaining its fresh, mineral-driven character.

91–93/100 — Kristaps Karklins, The Wine Advocate
“The 2024 Chablis 1er Cru Forêts is medium- to full-bodied, ample and bright, with a crisp core of fruit”
Producer
Domaine Moreau-Naudet is a highly regarded family estate in Chablis, renowned for producing richly textured, mineral-driven Chardonnay with exceptional purity and ageing potential.
Stéphane Moreau established the domaine's modern reputation after taking over from his father in 1993, focusing on meticulous vineyard management, low yields, natural fermentations and extended maturation. Following his passing in 2016, his wife Virginie Moreau continued this philosophy. The estate farms approximately 26 hectares across Chablis, from Petit Chablis to Grand Cru.
