95/100 — Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion · 2024 Vintage · Tasted: 19 August 2025 · Published: 29 August 2025 · Drinking Window: 2025-2040
"Flavour with attitude: down to earth and savoury as savoury can be. An attitude adjustment can be made with a decent decant, and then it's a revelation with the emergence of attractive rose and pressed flowers alongside a wealth of ripe dark fruits, spice earth, bracken, leather, woodsmoke and cured meats. The palate is ripped tight with nebbiolo trademark acidity holding the fruits and savoury flavours firm and bright, before finishing super tannin-dry and astringent. A wine that asks for more time."
James Suckling · 2024 Vintage · Tasted: August 2025
"The northern Italian edge in this wine will delight nebbiolo drinkers. Aromas of dark cherries, dried rose petals, red leather, terra cotta, ferric earth, charcuterie and plum skins. The palate is mid-weighted, with firmly framed tannins and bright acidity leading into a tactile, savory-edged finish. Perhaps the best bottling of this label yet at Jasper Hill. Drink or hold."
About This Wine

Producer Notes
A highlight in this release thanks to its beautiful aromatics. Expect a delightful floral hit of rose, classic to the variety. While not trying to mimic its Italian counterparts, our 2024 Heathcote Nebbiolo offers dark cherry and ripe red currants. Tannins are firm and plentiful, although not overpowering. Spicy oak and earthy flint bring a smoky, mouthwatering finish.
About the Producer
Jasper Hill is a Heathcote winery best known for concentrated wines from ungrafted vines. Its vineyards are farmed organically, biodynamically and without irrigation, with vines hand-pruned and harvested.
The vines grow on very old Cambrian basalt soils, which in Heathcote can be unusually deep and contribute complex mineral character. In the winery, grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts, with no nutrients or enzymes added.
