About This Wine

The 2024 Domaine Leflaive Macon-Verze La Jobeline is a biodynamic Chardonnay from La Jobeline, a large lieu-dit on the western slope of the Verze valley.

The site is east-facing, with clay-limestone soil and a steep slope with shallow to very shallow soils at the top of the hillside. The vineyard surface is 2ha35a, or 5.8 acres, planted between 2007 and 2020.

The 2024 vintage was challenging and rainy, with rainfall from January to October reaching one and a half times the usual amount. Flowering occurred in a humid atmosphere that encouraged coulure, and the cool, rainy season slowed vine growth and ripening. Harvesting began in Puligny on September 16, with modest yields but excellent sanitary condition of the remaining grapes.

About the Producer

Domaine Leflaive is based in Puligny-Montrachet and is one of the most important producers in the Cote de Beaune, focusing almost entirely on white wines made from Chardonnay.

Anne Claude Leflaive converted the vineyards to biodynamics and is considered a pioneer of biodynamics in Burgundy.
