95/100 ā The Wine Front Ā· 2024 Vintage Ā· Tasted: Apr 2026
About This Wine
The 2024 vintage was the hottest, driest and earliest harvest on record. Rainfall ceased at the end of September 2023, with nominally no rain until the season broke in May 2024.
Unseasonable warmth throughout the growing season combined with January heatwaves resulted in an early and extremely compressed harvest. The abundant sunshine produced fruit with excellent weight, concentration, depth of flavour and extract, reaching optimal ripeness earlier than expected.
Ample marri blossom and dry conditions reduced bird and disease pressure. Water stress on the estateās dry-grown vines remained the primary challenge during the season.
The 2024 reds show opulence and power, with significant depth of flavour and structure.
Producer Notes
Colour
Deep mulberry, ripe cherry with purple hues, showing youth and vitality.
Bouquet
Violets and wild rose with mulberry, satsuma plum and cigar box, expanding into liquorice, cherry and chocolate, finished with iodine, ironstone and a hint of curry leaf.
Palate
Elegant and perfumed, yet intense and highly attractive, showing beautiful fruit density, balance and opulent structure. Fine tannins expand gracefully across the palate, revealing layers of cassis, mulberry and cherry with rich cacao, lifted by floral rose notes and savoury plum. The back palate is wrapped in ironstone and cigar box, laced with cedar and sandalwood, finishing with grace, silk-like length and true finesse.
Food Pairing
Wagyu sirloin with caramelised shallot and beef jus; roasted heirloom carrots with honey, thyme, and olive oil.
