The 2024 Balnaves of Coonawarra The Blend is a vibrant and approachable Bordeaux-style red that highlights the elegance and regional character of Coonawarra. Produced by Balnaves of Coonawarra, one of the region's most respected family-owned wineries, The Blend combines premium estate-grown fruit with a youthful, fruit-driven style that is both immediately enjoyable and versatile at the table.

Sourced exclusively from the Balnaves estate vineyards, planted on Coonawarra's famous Terra Rossa soils over limestone, the wine benefits from the region's cool maritime climate and long growing season. These ideal conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly, producing wines with bright fruit expression, fine tannins, and excellent natural balance.

The Blend is typically led by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and small parcels of other Bordeaux varieties to add texture, complexity, and softness. The 2024 vintage produced fruit of outstanding freshness and purity, resulting in a wine that is generous yet beautifully structured.

Carefully fermented and matured in a combination of seasoned French oak and stainless steel, the wine retains vibrant fruit character while gaining subtle complexity and texture from oak maturation.

The bouquet is lifted and inviting, displaying aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, red plum, and black cherry, complemented by notes of cedar, mint, dried herbs, dark chocolate, and gentle spice. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with ripe dark fruit, silky tannins, fresh acidity, and well-integrated oak. Elegant and balanced, the finish is smooth and persistent, making it an excellent wine for both casual enjoyment and fine dining.

Approachable upon release, the 2024 Balnaves The Blend will continue to develop additional complexity over the next 5–8 years.
