Awards, Ratings & Reviews

97/100 — Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion · 2023 Vintage
“A blend of 61/13/12/8/6% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot from vines planted at this historic site from 1969–2000. A bright crimson purple. A wonderfully complex and perfumed bouquet redolent of blackcurrants and wild blackberry together with new pencil box shavings, sweet spice and crushed violets. Medium bodied, in the best sense of the term, with the fruit, oak and seamless tannins coming together as one. It may not be the most long-lived Yeringberg ever, but it will provide an enormous amount of enjoyment over the next 10–15 years.”

— James Suckling · 2023 Vintage
“Soft and savory aromas of blackcurrants, licorice, Asian spices, dark cherries and violets. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with finely tuned tannins and focused acidity that lead to a bright and plush mouthfeel. A soft, bright wine from a cool vintage that is constructed with a soft hand. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”

About This Wine

Yeringberg ‘Yeringberg’ is a Cabernet blend made from estate vines planted between 1969 and 2000, combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

About the Winery

A 19th century Yarra Valley pioneer, Yeringberg’s renaissance began when third-generation winegrowers Guill and Katherine de Pury replanted vines in 1969 and made their first commercial wine in 1974.

Since 2008, the wines have been made by daughter Sandra de Pury, while her brother David de Pury, who holds a PhD in plant physiology, manages the vineyards and Yeringberg’s grass-fed lamb and cattle.

Committed to the future, a new winery is in the design phase and a new vine program began in 2020 to mitigate against climate change and phylloxera, establishing two new vineyard sites on south- and east-facing slopes.
