The 2023 Valli Gibbston Vineyard Pinot Noir is a beautifully perfumed and finely structured expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir, showcasing the distinctive character of the Gibbston subregion. Produced by Valli Wine, this single-vineyard wine reflects the unique combination of altitude, cool climate, and schist-rich soils that have made Gibbston one of New Zealand’s most respected Pinot Noir regions.

Known as the coolest and highest-altitude subregion in Central Otago, Gibbston produces Pinot Noir with exceptional fragrance, vibrant acidity, and refined tannin structure. The 2023 vintage delivered excellent growing conditions, allowing for slow, even ripening and the development of remarkable aromatic purity and precision.

Hand-harvested fruit was carefully sorted and fermented with meticulous attention to preserving vineyard expression. Maturation in French oak barrels enhanced texture and complexity while allowing the delicate fruit profile and mineral character of the vineyard to remain at the forefront.

The wine opens with captivating aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and rose petal, complemented by notes of thyme, dried herbs, baking spice, and subtle earthiness. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, displaying silky tannins, bright natural acidity, and a finely detailed structure. Layers of red fruit and savoury complexity flow through to a long, mineral-driven finish characteristic of Gibbston Pinot Noir.
