The 2023 vintage delivered exceptional growing conditions in Tasmania, with a long, cool ripening season allowing for outstanding flavour development while retaining vibrant natural acidity. The Tolpuddle vineyard’s unique combination of low-vigour soils, cool maritime influence, and meticulous vineyard management contributes to wines of remarkable finesse and structure.
In the winery, fruit was hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barrels, including a restrained proportion of new oak. Extended lees maturation enhanced texture and complexity while preserving the vineyard’s signature clarity and tension.
The wine opens with intensely refined aromas of white peach, nectarine, grapefruit, lemon zest, and citrus blossom, layered with notes of struck flint, cashew, subtle oak spice, and saline minerality. The palate is concentrated yet tightly coiled, balancing crystalline fruit purity with vibrant acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish of exceptional precision.
