Noon Winery, a boutique family estate in McLaren Vale, is renowned for producing some of Australia’s most expressive and character-driven reds. Drew and Rae Noon work with old-vine vineyards and traditional methods, crafting wines with depth, purity, and unmistakable regional personality. Twelve Bells is one of the estate’s hallmark blends — approachable, vibrant, and beautifully nuanced.
Vineyard
The fruit for Twelve Bells is sourced from a selection of mature bush-vine Grenache and Shiraz vineyards in McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. These dry-grown vines, many planted decades ago, thrive in sandy loams over limestone and clay, producing small, intensely flavoured berries. Fermentation occurs in open tanks with gentle handling before maturation in seasoned French oak to preserve fruit integrity.
Vintage
The 2023 vintage was cool, long, and exceptionally balanced across South Australia. Grenache and Shiraz ripened evenly, delivering fresh aromatics, fine tannins, and excellent natural acidity. A standout year for Noon’s more lifted, energetic styles.
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Twelve Bells opens with bright aromas of red cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and dried herbs, supported by hints of spice and earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied and beautifully expressive — juicy red and black fruits framed by supple tannins and lively acidity. Elegant, vibrant, and wonderfully drinkable, with a long, fresh finish that highlights Noon’s pure, old-vine fruit.
