Critical site selection and meticulous viticultural care result in a Cabernet Sauvignon to which the Burch family attach a beloved name – Abercrombie – after Jeff Burch’s great grandfather and mentor, Walter Abercrombie.

The 33rd release of our flagship wine, the 2022 Abercrombie is crafted from premium fruit grown at our Leston vineyard and joyously celebrates the synergy of variety and place for which Margaret River is justifiably revered.

Alcohol ABV: 14.5%

Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Region: Margaret River

Tasting Note

Emanating entirely from Margaret River, this vintage marks a departure from the traditional blend, instead offering a testament to the region’s unparalleled Cabernet Sauvignon terroir. A captivating array of aromas rise from the glass carried upon a concentrated core of red and black fruit. Lifted notes of crème de violet, cinnamon quill, clove, blackberry, cassis, and mulberry lay atop earthy, crushed gravel, dried rosemary and hints of cedar spice. Smooth, opulent fruit fills the palate gliding along a fine and well-balanced acidity. Perfectly pitched tannins and subtle oak influence are orchestrated with precision, providing sublime structure and power to every corner of the palate. Culminating in a lengthy, impeccably balanced finish, this wine is filled with a delightful fruit density and endless layers of flavour. Although incredibly appealing in its youth, there is plenty more to come with further time in bottle.

Food Match

Pair alongside slow-cooked ribs, hearty mash and braised greens.

Recommended Cellaring

Drink now or cellar for up to 20 years.

Critic tasting note: (2022 vintage) "Very perfumed, showing aromas of wild blackberries, blackcurrants, tobacco, graphite and cedar. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with refined tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of boysenberries, mulberries, mocha and olive tapenade. Very refined and fresh with an underlying power. Drink or hold. Screw cap." - James Suckling
