Overview
A classic southern Rhône red from Famille Perrin, made primarily from fruit grown in the family's Grand Prébois vineyard for Grenache and Vinsobres vineyard for Syrah. Fruity, fleshy and structured by polished tannins, this is a versatile Côtes du Rhône designed to combine immediate drinking appeal with the potential to develop further in bottle.
Vintage
The 2023 growing season combined a mild winter and dry spring with a hot summer, particularly through August and September. Despite limited rainfall, the grapes achieved ideal ripeness while retaining freshness. Famille Perrin describes the resulting wines as rich, powerful and concentrated, yet beautifully balanced and fresh.
Vineyard & Terroir
The Grenache is sourced mainly from the Prébois vineyard in Orange, while the Syrah comes from the family's vineyard in Vinsobres, with Mourvèdre completing the blend. Prébois features clay-limestone soils covered with stones, while the terraces of Vinsobres are rich in quartz and marl limestone.
Winemaking
The grapes are sorted and destemmed on arrival at the winery. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks of 150–190hl, with extraction by pumping over according to tasting. Following racking and malolactic fermentation, the wine is matured partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel vats for one year.
Producer Tasting Notes
Colour
Beautiful ruby-red colour, deep and shiny, promising beautiful intensity.
Nose
Refined and balanced, the nose is particularly seductive with its intense aromas of candied plums, star anise, and undergrowth, enhanced by the delicate freshness of a hint of eucalyptus.
Palate
The palate offers perfect balance with a beautiful structure supported by present but well-integrated tannins, suggesting great aging potential. The aromatic palette evolves into elegant notes of truffles and wild blackberries, extending the tasting with complexity and length.
Producer
Famille Perrin is a leading Rhône Valley wine family with vineyards across some of the region's most important appellations. Their Réserve Côtes du Rhône draws on estate vineyard sources, including Prébois in Orange and Vinsobres, to produce a classic expression of the southern Rhône.
