Overview
The 2023 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles is one of the domaine's most celebrated Premier Cru white Burgundies. Les Pucelles is prized for combining floral elegance, mineral tension and refined depth, sitting among the most graceful and collectible Chardonnay expressions in Puligny-Montrachet.
Vintage & Winemaking
The Les Pucelles vineyard is planted on clay-limestone soil, with vines dating from 1963, 1969, 1981, 1985 and 2012 across 2.75 hectares. The Chardonnay grapes are biodynamically farmed and harvested by hand, with sorting and parcel-by-parcel ripeness monitoring.
The wine is made with long, gentle pneumatic pressing, followed by 24-hour decanting before transfer to oak casks. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in oak, followed by 12 months of ageing in barrels on lees and a further 10 months in stainless steel tank on fine lees.
