Overview
The inaugural 2023 Domaine Duroché Corton Grand Cru is a distinguished addition to Pierre and Marianne Duroché's prestigious négociant collection. Sourced from Le Rognet on the northern slopes of Corton, this Grand Cru Pinot Noir combines the character of mature vines with the precision, finesse and terroir-driven philosophy of one of Burgundy's most respected winemaking families.
Refined yet structured, the wine offers an expressive interplay of red and dark berry fruit, floral nuances, spice and mineral complexity, supported by fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a persistent finish.
Vineyard
The fruit comes from Le Rognet, a parcel situated in the northern part of the Corton Grand Cru appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. The vineyard lies on clay-limestone soils, with vines averaging approximately 50 years of age.
The vineyard is cultivated exclusively by Domaine Duroché, with 2023 marking the first vintage harvested from this parcel under the domaine's management. The site is recognised for producing wines with expressive aromatics and an elegant structure.
Tasting Notes
Ripe red and black berries are complemented by floral aromas, spice and mineral complexity. The palate combines refined structure with fine tannins and vibrant acidity, leading to a long, persistent finish.
Négociant Collection
In 2017, Pierre and Marianne Duroché established a boutique négociant operation to explore exceptional Burgundy terroirs beyond the family's traditional vineyard holdings. Working closely with selected growers and family vineyard connections, the couple developed a collection encompassing some of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations, including Chambertin, Echezeaux, Clos Vougeot and Corton Grand Cru.
The collection reflects their commitment to meticulous viticulture, thoughtful winemaking and the authentic expression of each vineyard's individual character.
Producer
Domaine Duroché is a highly regarded Burgundy producer based in Gevrey-Chambertin, led by fifth-generation winemaker Pierre Duroché. The family estate cultivates approximately eight hectares of vineyards across the Côte de Nuits, with holdings in celebrated Grand Cru sites including Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze, Latricières-Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin, alongside several Premier Cru and village appellations.
Pierre and Marianne Duroché combine generations of Burgundian knowledge with a sensitive, nature-focused philosophy. Their approach emphasises precise vineyard management, restrained extraction and careful élevage, seeking aromatic purity, elegant structure and a faithful expression of terroir.
