The 2023 Coudoulet de Beaucastel is a refined and characterful Rhône red from the Perrin family, produced from vineyards situated just east of Château de Beaucastel in the southern Rhône.

Often regarded as the “baby Beaucastel”, Coudoulet shares much of the character and philosophy of the estate’s celebrated Châteauneuf-du-Pape, while offering earlier accessibility and excellent value.

The 2023 vintage displays generous aromas of blackberry, black cherry and ripe plum, complemented by violet, dried herbs, pepper and classic Provençal spice. Subtle earthy and savoury notes add further complexity.

The palate is medium to full-bodied, with juicy dark and red fruit supported by fine tannins and fresh acidity. Notes of liquorice, pepper, Mediterranean herbs and spice develop through the palate, leading to a balanced, savoury and persistent finish.

Already approachable with decanting, the 2023 Coudoulet has sufficient structure and freshness to develop additional complexity over the next decade.
