Pierre Girardin is one of Burgundy’s most exciting young talents. After growing up in his family’s domaine and launching his own label at just 21, he has quickly earned acclaim for wines that combine precision, energy, and sophistication. His whites, in particular, have become some of the most sought-after modern expressions of Côte de Beaune Chardonnay.
Vineyard
Les Enseignères is a revered lieu-dit positioned directly below the great Grand Cru Bâtard-Montrachet. With its deep, chalk-rich soils and excellent drainage, it regularly produces wines of Premier Cru depth and Grand Cru nuance. Low yields, hand harvesting, and gentle pressing preserve purity and textural finesse. Fermentation and ageing take place in fine French oak (a modest proportion new), emphasising minerality over opulence.
Vintage
The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was warm, generous, and beautifully balanced. Chardonnay achieved superb ripeness while retaining tension and mineral drive, resulting in wines that are expressive young yet built for graceful ageing.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Les Enseignères opens with aromas of white peach, lemon curd, crushed limestone, and acacia blossom, supported by hints of toasted hazelnut and subtle spice. The palate is refined and textural — combining ripe stone fruit with taut citrus, saline minerality, and a beautifully etched acid line. Long, pure, and harmoniously balanced, showing the unmistakable pedigree of its Grand Cru-adjacent site.
