Produced by Henschke, Hill of Roses is sourced from a historic vineyard adjacent to the famed Hill of Grace, planted with cuttings from those original vines and sharing the same ancient soils and pedigree.
Situated at elevation in Eden Valley, the vineyard benefits from cooler conditions and low-yielding vines, producing Shiraz of finesse, purity, and aromatic lift. The 2022 vintage delivered fruit of exceptional balance and clarity, resulting in a wine that emphasises elegance and structure rather than sheer power.
In the winery, fruit was hand-harvested and gently fermented to preserve detail and texture. Maturation took place in French oak hogsheads, including a portion of new oak, allowing subtle spice and structure to integrate seamlessly with the fruit while maintaining a clear sense of place.
The wine opens with lifted aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, and plum, layered with notes of black pepper, dried herbs, spice, and delicate floral nuances.
