The 2022 Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz is one of Australia’s most iconic and revered single-vineyard wines, presented here in its original wooden box. Produced by Henschke, Hill of Grace is sourced from a tiny, historic vineyard in Eden Valley, planted to ungrafted Shiraz vines dating back to the mid-19th century and situated beside the Gnadenberg Lutheran church.

This extraordinary site, with its ancient soils and low-yielding, old vines, produces fruit of remarkable concentration, finesse, and natural balance. The 2022 vintage delivered exceptional purity and structure, capturing both power and elegance in a wine built for generations of ageing.

In the winery, fruit is hand-harvested and gently fermented to preserve detail and texture. Maturation takes place in French oak hogsheads, including a proportion of new oak, over an extended period, allowing for seamless integration of spice, structure, and complexity while maintaining the vineyard’s signature expression.

The wine reveals a profoundly complex bouquet of blackberry, dark plum, and blueberry, layered with notes of spice, black pepper, sage, dried herbs, and delicate floral lift. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, impeccably balanced, with fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and extraordinary depth through the mid-palate. The finish is long, savoury, and precise, reflecting both the vineyard’s heritage and the meticulous craftsmanship behind the wine.

Still in its infancy, the 2022 Hill of Grace demands patience and will reward extended cellaring over 30–50+ years, evolving into one of the great wines of its generation. If opened young, extended decanting is recommended to allow its full complexity to unfold.
