Overview
A concentrated old-vine Morey-Saint-Denis from Domaine Lignier-Michelot, combining the depth and savoury structure of mature Pinot Noir with the freshness and aromatic lift brought by a high proportion of whole-bunch fermentation. The 2022 cuvée is sourced from three village lieux-dits and shows the domaine’s characteristic emphasis on terroir, balance and finesse.
Vineyard
The wine is assembled from three climats covering approximately 1.2 hectares: Chenevery, Cognées and Très Girard. The vines are between 60 and 70 years old. Significant millerandage in these parcels produces small, concentrated berries, contributing depth, complexity and length to the finished wine.
Winemaking
The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes was vinified with approximately 80% whole bunches. Domaine Lignier-Michelot generally matures its wines for 10 to 13 months in barrel before blending and resting them for a further four months in stainless steel. New oak is kept below 30%, preserving freshness and the aromatic character of Pinot Noir.

Producer
Domaine Lignier-Michelot is based in Morey-Saint-Denis in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. The Lignier family has cultivated vines in the village since the early 20th century, with estate bottling beginning in 1992. Today the domaine farms a little over eight hectares across Morey-Saint-Denis and neighbouring Côte de Nuits appellations.
Laure and Virgile Lignier focus on freshness, purity and faithful expression of Burgundy’s individual terroirs. Whole-bunch fermentation plays an important role across the range, while restrained new oak and extended élevage are used to preserve balance, finesse and Pinot Noir aromatic complexity.
