Overview
The 2022 Dicey Bannockburn Pinot Noir is a Central Otago red wine drawn from Dicey’s Inlet and Black Rabbit vineyards. It captures Bannockburn’s rocky, dry and windblown landscape in a precise, linear and elegant Pinot Noir style, combining red cherry, violet, wild herb and mineral detail with fine tannin structure.
Vintage & Winemaking
Vintage 2022 was close to an ideal growing season in Bannockburn, with no significant frost or wind pressure, a warm and wet start, a hot dry middle period and a long, cool ripening finish. The wine is a blend of 64% Inlet and 36% Black Rabbit fruit, fermented with 10% whole cluster and 90% destemmed fruit across 10 ferments.
The average time on skins was 24 days, including a 7-day cold soak, 8-day fermentation and 9-day post-ferment maceration. Fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeast and minimal cap management. Natural malolactic fermentation took place in spring, followed by 11 months in barrel, with 27% new oak and the remainder older oak. Bottled unfined and filtered in October 2023.

Lifted red cherry, raspberry and red plum aromas with exotic spice, citrus blossom, char siu, amaro herbs, dried citrus rind and earthy detail. The palate is medium-bodied with red fruits, spice, fine silty tannins and a bright mineral line.
