“Deep nose of elderberries, wild blackberries, allspice and orange peel. Very powerful thanks to the abundant healthy tannins that feel finer the farther back the wine flows over your palate. Full-bodied, but with an excellent freshness, the tannins building to an imposing crescendo at the plush finish. Mainly from the Cote Brune section of this appellation. A pure syrah matured exclusively in Burgundian oak barrels, of which almost a third were new. Best from 2027.”

About This Wine
This cuvée is a blend of grapes from the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. Average Delas production is 15,000 to 20,000 bottles (75 cl) per year. Grape variety: 100% Syrah.
The grapes for the “Seigneur de Maugiron” cuvée are harvested by hand, plot by plot, at optimal ripeness. Vinification is carried out traditionally in open concrete vats after two days of cold pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation continues at a controlled temperature of 28 to 30°C, with daily punching down and pumping over for about ten days. Total maceration time can reach 20 days.
The wine is aged for 14 to 16 months, half in new barrels and half in one-year-old barrels, with regular racking.
Tasting Notes
Visually, the wine is a very dark purple. On the nose, the Côte-Rôtie “Seigneur de Maugiron,” powerful yet elegant, is marked by aromas of blackcurrant, redcurrant, and licorice, underpinned by a light oak influence. This wine, with its firm tannic structure, displays a beautiful balance and a silky texture. It combines impressive concentration with great finesse.
