2022 Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion 750ml

Overview

The 2022 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion is a Cabernet-led red from Pessac-Léognan, combining dark fruit and aromatic freshness with a dense, velvety palate. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the core, supported by Cabernet Franc and Merlot, in a vintage shaped by heat and drought.

The estate’s gravel soils lie over a clay-sand matrix and limestone subsoil. That layered setting forms the foundation of its red-wine vineyards, with individual parcels selected and vinified separately.

Vintage & Winemaking

A dry spring was followed by helpful June rain before intense summer heat. Harvest ran from 6 to 28 September. Fruit underwent table and optical sorting, with vinification in small, temperature-controlled concrete vats and long macerations.

Maturation used 50% new barrels, 35% one-wine barrels and 15% terracotta jars for a portion of the Merlot. The final blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Cabernet Franc and 18% Merlot.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Dark and deep in colour.

Aroma: Liquorice and mint mingle with black fruit.

Palate: Silky tannins give the dense palate a velvety texture.

Finish: Persistent, with a lively sense of length.

About the Producer

Philippe and Christine Gervoson acquired Larrivet Haut-Brion in 1987, rebuilding its vineyard holdings and modernising the estate. Their family’s work has combined renewed plantings, detailed study of the soils and continued investment in the winery, establishing the property’s modern identity in Léognan.
