About This Wine
Carruades de Lafite is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, produced from specific plots including the Carruades plateau and selected parcels within the Pauillac estate. The wine has its own identity, linked to a higher proportion of Merlot and dedicated vineyard lots.
The 2022 vintage experienced early frost events followed by a wet spring and a dry, warm summer. Harvest began on September 1 under favourable conditions, delivering fruit of very high quality.
Vinification follows traditional Bordeaux methods, with alcoholic fermentation in wooden, concrete, and stainless-steel vats, gentle pumping-over, and approximately 20 days of maceration. The wine is aged in French oak barrels made by the Tonnelleries des Domaines for around 16 months.
