The 2022 Bodega Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard ‘White Bones’ Chardonnay Magnum is one of the most collectible and profound Chardonnays produced in the Southern Hemisphere. Crafted by Catena Zapata, this iconic single-vineyard wine originates from the famed Adrianna Vineyard in Mendoza, a site widely regarded as one of the world’s greatest high-altitude terroirs for Chardonnay.

Named “White Bones” after the fossilised limestone and calcareous soils found throughout the vineyard, this tiny parcel produces Chardonnay of extraordinary minerality, tension, and precision. Situated at nearly 1,500 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Adrianna Vineyard benefits from intense sunlight and cool nighttime temperatures, allowing for slow ripening, remarkable aromatic complexity, and naturally vibrant acidity.

The 2022 vintage delivered exceptional purity and balance, resulting in a Chardonnay of immense energy and finesse. Fruit was hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barrels, followed by careful lees maturation to build texture and complexity while preserving the wine’s striking mineral character.

The wine opens with layered aromas of lemon zest, white peach, grapefruit, and citrus blossom intertwined with notes of crushed stone, oyster shell, flint, and delicate spice. The palate is intensely focused yet beautifully textural, combining vibrant citrus and stone fruit with electric acidity and remarkable mineral tension. The finish is exceptionally long, saline, and precise, showcasing the unique limestone-rich terroir of White Bones.

Presented in the 1.5L Magnum format, this wine offers enhanced ageing potential and slower, more graceful evolution in bottle. While approachable with careful decanting, the 2022 White Bones Chardonnay is built for long-term cellaring and will continue to evolve beautifully over 15–25+ years.
