Overview

Vincent Dancer Morgeot is a small-production Premier Cru Chardonnay from a densely planted parcel in Chassagne-Montrachet. The 2021 vintage is only the third release from this site, combining concentrated fruit with the freshness, precision and mineral character associated with Domaine Vincent Dancer.

Vineyard

The parcel was established in 2013 and is planted at an exceptionally high density of approximately 20,000 vines per hectare. It occupies the Morgeot lieu-dit historically known as “La Grande Bourne”, close to the Santenay border.

The site contains very rocky limestone with a greater proportion of clay than Dancer’s higher-positioned TĂȘte du Clos parcel. The dense planting and distinctive soil profile produce small, concentrated bunches with layered fruit and precise acidity.

Viticulture and Winemaking

Vincent Dancer farms his vineyards organically without herbicides and was the first producer in Chassagne-Montrachet to obtain organic certification. His low-intervention cellar approach uses wild yeasts, barrel maturation for 12-18 months and bottling without fining or filtration.

Critic Reviews

90-92 Points - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“Offering up aromas of pear, mint and sweet citrus fruit, along with some traces of its recently completed malolactic fermentation, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a textural attack and layered core of fruit.”
