Overview

Pio Cesare Mosconi Barolo DOCG is a small-production single-vineyard Barolo from the historic Mosconi area of Monforte d'Alba. The Pio family acquired vineyards in this prized site in 2014, drawn by its old Nebbiolo vines, calcareous and marly soils, and the balance of Monforte power with high-elevation finesse.

The 2021 vintage is precise, energetic and deeply age-worthy, showing the structure, perfume and long finish expected from one of Pio Cesare's most important single-vineyard Barolo releases.

Vineyard

The Mosconi vineyard lies in Monforte d'Alba, one of Barolo's most powerful villages. Its calcareous and marly soils give depth and structure, while elevation contributes floral lift, aromatic refinement and more harmonious tannins.

Winemaking

Fermentation and long maceration on skins take place in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in large French and Eastern European oak barrels, with a small portion in French oak barriques, followed by extended bottle ageing before release.
