Overview

Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba Superiore Fides Vigna Mosconi is a small-production Barbera from the Mosconi vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. The name Fides, meaning trust in Latin, reflects the Pio family's faith and commitment to Barbera when grown in high-profile sites and given serious cellar ageing.

The 2021 vintage is balanced and harmonious, with moderate acidity, concentrated fruit, structure and complexity. It finishes refined and carries the ageing potential that defines this special Barbera release.

Vineyard

The wine is mainly sourced from the oldest Barbera vines in the Mosconi vineyard, located in the village of Monforte d'Alba. This prestigious site gives the wine depth, structure and a more serious expression of Barbera d'Alba.

Winemaking

Fermentation and long maceration on skins take place in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in large French and Eastern European oak barrels for nearly 12 months, with a small portion in French oak barriques, followed by long bottle ageing before release.
