Overview
MCMLV - La Vigne de 1955 is a distinctive old-vine Sauvignon Blanc from Domaine du Bouchot in Pouilly-Fumé. Combining ripe citrus and yellow fruit with mineral depth, texture and freshness, the wine reflects the domaine’s organic and biodynamic approach to viticulture and the characteristic flinty expression of Sauvignon Blanc from the Upper Loire.
Vineyard & Viticulture
The wine is produced from Sauvignon Blanc grown in Pouilly-Fumé on the right bank of the Loire. The vineyard soils include white clay, marl and Kimmeridgian limestone. Domaine du Bouchot farms organically and biodynamically, with Demeter certification.
Winemaking
Half of the wine underwent skin contact for several days, while the remaining fruit was pressed directly into old 500-litre barrels aged approximately eight to ten years. Indigenous fermentation is used.
Producer Tasting Notes
This wine is all about roundness with citrus aromas. The mouth is complexe, intense with an elegant power at the end. It is the perfect pairing with sophisticated preparation from starter to dessert.
Critic Reviews
95/100 — James Suckling
“Seems at first like a subtle expression of sauvignon, with initial aromas of lavender and light lemony citrus fruit… Full-bodied and super-silky with calm persistence. Long, mineral finish with some phenolic tightening.”

93/100 — Rebecca Gibb, Vinous
“This wine shows lots of thiol-related flavors: tropical fruit, gooseberry as well as a hint of green… There's lovely acidity, but it's nicely balanced.”
92/100 — Decanter
