Overview
The 2021 Dicey Black Rabbit Vineyard Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Bannockburn Pinot Noir from one of Dicey's most distinctive sites. Black Rabbit sits on a steep north-facing slope, with younger windblown schist loess over ancient bedrock schist, producing a wine of depth, spice and muscular structure.
Vintage & Winemaking
The 2021 season was warmer than normal with lower yields, producing disease-free fruit at optimal ripeness. The wine is a blend of Pinot Noir clones 5, 115 and Abel, fully destemmed with no whole bunch. It was fermented with indigenous yeast and spent 22 days on skins, followed by 14 months in well-seasoned barrels. Natural malolactic fermentation occurred in spring, and the wine was bottled without fining in August 2022.
