About This Wine
Vines from Domaine du Château de Chassagne-Montrachet on clay-limestone soil. Fruit is sourced from Champ Derrière, the parcel planted behind the family's historic château, with Pinot Noir vines between 55 and 75 years old.
100% Pinot Noir from the AOC Chassagne-Montrachet Village appellation.
Harvested by hand in openwork crates of 15 kg. The bunches are cooled and 100% destemmed before vatting in open wooden vats for two to three weeks.
Cold pre-fermentation maceration takes place before alcoholic fermentation using indigenous yeasts. Gentle extraction is achieved through alternating manual punch downs and pump overs.
The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months with 25% new barrels, then refined for a further 6 months before bottling.
Annual production is approximately 13,000 bottles, with an ageing potential of about 15 years.
About The Estate
The Bader-Mimeur family has tended vines in Chassagne-Montrachet since the 1700s. In 1919, Charles Mimeur acquired the historic vineyards around the Château de Chassagne-Montrachet, and the estate has remained in family hands ever since. Today it is run by Nathalie Bernard and Sébastien Fossier, who continue to focus on quality and site expression both in the vineyards and in the cellar.
About The 2020 Vintage
The 2020 release is a classic expression of Chassagne-Montrachet Village Rouge from Domaine Bader-Mimeur. The wine shows bright cherry and raspberry fruit layered with earthy spice and subtle oak. Silky tannins and fresh acidity frame a long, savoury finish — a profile suited to drinkers who value structure, savoury complexity, and traditional Burgundian Pinot Noir.
Drinking now and cellarable through 2035.
