Overview

Pio Cesare Barbaresco DOCG is a traditional Nebbiolo from one of Piemonte's historic family producers, made from a blend of several family-owned vineyards across the Barbaresco region. Rather than focusing on a single site, this wine follows the classic Langhe approach of combining multiple terroirs to create a complete, balanced and age-worthy expression of Barbaresco.

The 2019 vintage shows concentration, ripe spice, round tannins and strong structure, with the elegance and velvety texture that define Pio Cesare's Barbaresco style. The estate is clear that this is not a simple or regular Barbaresco; it is the historic family formula, built around harmony, complexity and long ageing potential.

Vineyards

The fruit comes from four vineyard sources in the Barbaresco region, including Bricco di Treiso, San Stunet and Bongiovanni in Treiso, plus Rocche Massalupo in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, Alba. The blend captures Nebbiolo from different exposures and positions, representing the Barbaresco appellation as a whole.

Winemaking

Fermentation and long maceration on skins take place in stainless steel tanks. The final vineyard blend is aged in large French and Eastern European oak barrels for nearly 24 months, with a small portion in French oak barriques. Extended bottle ageing before release increases drinkability and integration.
