Overview

The 2018 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port combines concentrated dark fruit with the firm structure that defines the house’s style. Its depth is balanced by freshness and aromatic detail, presented here in a 375ml half bottle.

Vintage & Winemaking

Heavy March rain replenished water reserves before a hot, dry summer. Picking at Quinta de Vargellas began on 17 September, with very low yields and balanced ripening. Vargellas and Terra Feita provide the principal vineyard sources for this release.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Purple-black with a narrow purple rim.

Aroma: Blackberry and blackcurrant are joined by cherry, mocha, violet and minty herbs.

Palate: Dense fruit meets ripe tannins, bringing both volume and structure.

Finish: Fresh fruit persists alongside a firm tannic grip.

Food Pairing

Walnuts, blue-veined cheese, dried apricots or figs. Decant before serving at 16–18°C.

Roger Voss’s assessment recommends drinking from 2029.
