Overview

Patrick of Coonawarra Grande Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is an iconic, limited-production wine made only from the finest fruit in exceptional vintages. Extended maturation and cellar ageing create a complex expression of aged Coonawarra Cabernet with impressive richness, structure and length.

Vineyard

The fruit is selected from individual parcels within the 60-year-old Home Block Vineyard in Coonawarra. Its low-yielding Cabernet Sauvignon vines grow on the regionā€™s famed Terra Rossa soils, producing concentrated fruit with distinctive regional character and excellent ageing potential.

Winemaking and Cellaring

Selected parcels are matured in 100% new French oak for up to three years. The wine is then cellared for a minimum of six years before release, allowing its fruit, oak and tannin structure to develop greater harmony and complexity.

ā€œThe wine opens with blood plums, elderberry and cassis. A plethora of earthenware and spices. Terracotta, leather and tobacco leaf. Fruit is more intensely red fruited on the palate with quince and dark cherries. A swathe of fresh acidity and gentle rolling tannins. ā€¦ Drinking well now.ā€
