Overview

The 2015 Lake's Folly Cabernets is a classic Hunter Valley red from one of Australia's most historic boutique estates. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Shiraz, it is made from low-yielding, estate-grown, hand-harvested fruit and carries the quiet composure and long, savoury structure that define Lake's Folly.

Rated Excellent in the Langton's Classification of Australian Wine, Lake's Folly Cabernets is a cellar-worthy Australian Bordeaux blend with mature black fruit, savoury oak and refined tannin detail.

Vintage & Winemaking

The fruit was open-fermented to build softer, more subtle tannins, then transferred to large old casks for six months of settling. It was then matured in small French oak barriques, including new, one-year-old and two-year-old barrels, for approximately one year before bottling.

Deep brick red in colour with aromas of black cherry, dark fruits, violets, liquorice and charred oak. The palate is soft and generous for a medium-bodied wine, with blackberry fruit, excellent fruit sweetness, balance and trademark length.
